Marvel's Blade reboot will finally commence filming next month.
Boasting double Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter Eric Brooks, it's been three years since the studio first announced the movie's existence at San Diego Comic-Con.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen) has been working on a script for director Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli), and now it's all systems go according to Production List, which reports Blade's start date is July 4.

Ali's Daywalker made his MCU debut during last year's Eternals, in a voice-only appearance, so we still haven't seen what he'll look like in costume yet.
"It was really cool, getting to do that," the actor said in November. "It was scary. Because, you know, you're talking before you're filming it. I'm pretty particular about my choices, like most actors, and so having to make some choices – even with a line, vocally – this early on, it brought up some very real anxieties.
"And it made the job real. It's like, 'Okay, this is happening now', you know, and that's exciting."

Previously reacting to his True Detective co-star's casting, original Blade villain Stephen Dorff (Deacon Frost) weighed in with these kind words: "I'm happy for him. I think he'll do a great job with Blade and reinventing the franchise. It probably should've been done a while ago, but I think it's good for him.
"I love the guy. I'm sure he'll do it justice. To have such a great actor in the part of Blade for this new generation, it'll be great."
As for three-time Blade portrayer Wesley Snipes, he's "open" to a cameo if Marvel Studios is interested.
