Resident Evil Village's Lady Dimitrescu will be playable in new DLC

More Mercenaries characters! New story expansions! Third person mode!

Resident Evil Village, or Resident Evil 8 as plenty of fans still call it, released over a year ago, but that doesn't mean that Capcom is done with it.

Shortly after announcing that the game will be playable in VR, Capcom announced a series of downloadable content and a Gold Edition bundling it all together with the base game.

Not the biggest, but probably the most noteworthy addition is that Lady Dimitrescu is going to be playable in an update to The Mercenaries mode. The tall vampire lady is possibly bigger than the game itself, with plenty of fan art and cosplays. Chris Redfield and Karl Heisenberg were also announced to be playable in The Mercenaries update, to significantly less fanfare.

The DLC also includes a new story scenario following up from Village's ending called Shadows of Rose. It follows Rose, daughter of protagonist Ethan Winters, as a teenager as she delves into the secrets of the Mold that has given both heroes and villains some crazy superpowers.

Interestingly, Shadows of Rose will be playable in third-person as opposed to first-person like 7 and Village. But even more interestingly, the Village base game will be entirely playable in third-person too, leaving 7 as the only game in the main series to be first-person (unless they update that too).

All the DLC, and the combined Gold Edition, will be released on October 28. PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X variation of the Gold Edition are available to pre-order on Game now for £49.99.

During the same showcase where the Village expansion was announced, Capcom announced the immediate release of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions for the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, and Resi 7. If you've bought any of the games already, you get to upgrade them for free.

Between all this content and the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4, fans are in for a treat at the moment.

Resident Evil Village will release its Gold Edition on October 28, 2022.
